Why won't FCS Express recognize my dongle after I inserted it into the USB port?

If you are seeing the following message, but the dongle is actually in your USB port, then please try the steps below.

  1. Remove the dongle from the computer.
  2. Shut down FCS Express.
  3. Download the latest dongle installation program, and save it to your desktop. The dongle installation program can be found here: http://www.denovosoftware.com/download/DongleInstall.exe
  4. Double-click on the downloaded dongle program to run it. The following window should appear:
     

     
  5. Check the checkbox "Uninstall". The button marked "Begin Install" will change to "Begin Uninstall".
  6. Press the button "Begin Uninstall". When it is complete, this window will appear:
     

     
  7. Press the button "Close".
  8. Double-click on the downloaded dongle program again to run it. The same window should appear as in step 4.
  9. Select your dongle type:
    • If you have a small, circular light-colored and red dongle (like the image below), check the Fortress checkbox, and uncheck the others.
    • If you have a green dongle, check the USB Dongle checkbox, and uncheck the others. (note: these dongles were only distributed with FCS Express Version 3)
  10. Press the button "Begin Install". When it is complete, this window will appear:
     

     
  11. Press the button "Close".
  12. Insert the dongle. Windows may give you messages about installing new hardware - if it does, let Windows complete the hardware installation automatically.
  13. Start FCS Express, and the dongle should be recognized. If is it still not recgonized, please contact support.
