1. Upgrading from the demonstration version to a purchase

1.1 If your demo has not yet expired

If your demo has not yet expired, then simply run FCS Express. When the program opens, select Configure your purchase from the help menu, as in the figure.	Figure 1.1a
A wizard will appear, and will walk you through the steps of setting up your purchased license. To configure your purchase, press Next.	Figure 1.1b
Enter the email address and the password of the person who ordered the software, and press Next. Please note that it is important that you enter the address of the person who made the purchase, because otherwise, the correct configuration information will not be found.	Figure 1.1c
The wizard will prompt you to select one of the products you have purchased, as shown in Figure 1.1d. Press Next after you have selected the product.	Figure 1.1d
Press Finish on the wizard, and then close and restart FCS Express.  The next time you start, your purchase will be configured.  Please note that after you restart FCS Express, you may need to set up your dongle or countercode.	Figure 1.1e

   

1.2 If your demo has already expired

If your demo has already expired, then try to launch FCS Express. The Configuration File Setup Wizard will appear, as seen in figure 1.2a. Make sure the button labeled I have purchased FCS Express is selected, and press Next.	Figure 1.2a

The wizard will prompt you to select one of the products you have purchased, as shown in Figure 1.1d. Press Next after you have selected the product. 4.1  Installing FCS Express for a Standalone License

1. Run the install program:

• If you are installing from the CD, run the program setup.exe.
  
• If you have downloaded the software from the Internet, double-click on the file that you downloaded (the default name is FCSExpressV3Full.exe).
  

2. Follow the prompts in the install program to complete the installation.

4.2  Installing FCS Express for Network Licenses

1. Run the install program:

• If you are installing from the CD, run the program setup.exe.
  
• If you have downloaded the software from the Internet, double-click on the file that you downloaded (the default name is FCSExpressV3Full.exe).
  

2. Follow the prompts in the install program to complete the installation.  When the install program prompts you for the directory to install to, be sure to install FCS Express on a disk drive that is accessible to your users.
   
3. You can then create shortcuts to FCS Express on all of your users’ local machines. Make sure that the users have read/write access to the folder where you installed FCS Express.

5. Obtaining a Configuration file

In order to run FCS Express, you will need a configuration file.  The configuration file tells FCS Express which version of the software you are running, which features to activate, and other information. There are two ways to obtain a configuration file, either through our Configuration File Wizard or through email. In order to use the configuration file Setup Wizard, you must be connected to the Internet.

5.1  Configuration File Wizard

5.1.1 When FCS Express starts up, it will detect whether or not a configuration file is present. If one does not exist, the Configuration File Setup Wizard will automatically appear, as shown in Figure 5.1a. To configure your purcase, select the first option,  The complete analysis program, and press Next.	Figure 5.1a
5.1.2 If you have not already registered on the web site, choose the second option. You will be prompted to create an account. If you have already registered on the De Novo Software web site, choose the first option.	Figure 5.1b
5.1.3 The next page will prompt you to enter your email address and the password you entered on the De Novo Software web site when you registered. If this is for a purchased copy, make sure to use the e-mail address that the purchased copy is registered to. If you do not remember your password, enter your email address and press the button I Forgot My Password on the login screen.	Figure 5.1c
5.1.4 The wizard will prompt you to select one of the products you have purchased, as shown in Figure 5.1d.	Figure 5.1d

5.2  Obtaining a Configuration file by Email

When you purchase FCS Express, you will receive a confirmation email with a summary of your purchase. Your product configuration file will be attached to this email. Also, when you download the demonstration of FCS Express, you will receive a confirmation email with the configuration file attached.  Whether you have purchased, or download the demo, simply save the configuration file from the email to the configuration directory of FCS Express.

In the future, you may need to obtain the configuration file but you might not have access to the original email with the attachment. If you do not have the original email, then

1. Go to www.denovosoftware.com
2. Click on My Account.
   
3. Log in with your email address and password.
   
4. From there, there will be an option for you to obtain the configuration file.   Select this option, and select your configuration file, and click on the button to send the file.
5. The configuration file will then be sent to you by email. 
   
6. Once you receive the email, save the configuration file from the email to the configuration directory of FCS Express.

6. Using Dongles

6.1 Dongle Installation

When you first run FCS Express with a configuration file that requires a dongle, FCS Express will install the required dongle software on to your computer. Administrator access may be required for this, depending on your security setup. As described above, you are not required to actually insert the dongle for 45 days after purchase. The very first time you insert the dongle, depending on your operating system, a Found New Hardware Wizard (Figure 6.1a) may appear. Select one of the first two radio buttons and click the Next button.  The screen shown in Figure 6.1b will appear.	Figure 6.1a

When the wizard is completed, the screen shown in (Figure 6.c) should appear to indicate that the installation was successful. The dongle is now set up and ready to use. Press the Finish button.	Figure 6.1c

7. Using Countercodes

7.1  Obtaining a countercode when the computer FCS Express is installed on is connected to the Internet

1a. Select the first option Automatically through this wizard. 1b. Click the Next button.	Figure 7.1a
2a. Enter your email address in the E-Mail Address field. 2b. Enter your password in the password field. If you forgot your password, click the I forgot my password button. The password will be emailed to you. 2c. Click the Next button.	Figure 7.1b

7.2  Obtaining a countercode when the computer FCS Express is installed on is not connected to the Internet

1. Select the second option By requesting it through denovosoftware.com. 2. Click the Next button.	Figure 7.2a
