Some ATI video cards come with a desktop window manager automatically installed called HydraVision. Several customers have reported conflicts between this software and FCS Express. The key symptom of this conflict is that FCS Express will crash immediately after starting up. If you are experiencing this symptom, you will need to disable ATI Hydravision before running FCS Express. You can check if you are running HydraVision by looking at any open window in your computer to see if the leftmost icon depicted below is visible in the top right-hand corner of the window. ![]() To turn off HydraVision: 1)
Find the ATI icon in the notification area of the taskbar. This is usually located in the bottom right-hand corner of
the screen. 2) Right-click the ATI icon to display the ATI options menu.
3) Drag the mouse over the “HydraVision” option to display the HydraVision options menu.
4) Then drag the mouse over the “Unload Desktop Manager” option. It will highlight, then left-click to turn off HydraVision.
5) After you have selected “Unload Desktop Manager” the HydraVision icon in the top-right of the screen will still be visible. Click anywhere on the window you were working in and it should disappear. HydraVision is now disabled and the top-right of your window should look the same as below.
6) After you have finished using FCS Express, if you wish to turn HydraVision back on, follow the same steps again, but the “Unload Desktop Manager” option will have changed to “Load Desktop Manager”.
