What operating systems does FCS Express run on?FCS Express runs on the PC platform, on Windows 2000, XP and Vista. On Windows Vista you will need to elevate to admin privileges to run the installation. FCS Express runs on Windows inside virtual machines as well, for example VMWare for Windows, Mac or Linux. What is your refund policy?De Novo Software offers a 30 day, fully functional, evaluation version of our software completely free. We encourage our customers to try the evaluation version prior to purchasing the software. De Novo Software assumes that you have tried the evaluation version and ensured that it works as you expect with your data. Once FCS Express is purchased and a countercode is issued, we will not issue refunds for that version of FCS Express. If a countercode has not yet been issued, we will be happy to refund your purchase. What is a configuration file?A configuration file provides information to FCS Express when it first starts up, and is required for FCS Express to run. When you purchase FCS Express, or download the demo, a configuration file is emailed to you. Configuration files are required for all installations of FCS Express, for both countercode and dongle copy protection mechanisms. If the program is started without the file, the configuration wizard will appear, and you will be able to select the configuration you have purchased. In this way, the program can set up your configuration file automatically. You can also get the configuration file from our web site, in My Account, or you can use the configuration file that was emailed to you after purchase. The details on setting up all of the different options are shown on the installation page. What is a countercode?Once you have purchased FCS Express V3, and set up the configuration for your purchase, you may use the program for forty-five days. However, after that, it will require a counter code. Countercodes will be issued once we have approved your purchase (that is, once we have received your cheque in the mail, verified your purchase order, verified your credit card, and/or verified your upgrade request). For more details on countercodes, please see the installation page. The steps for entering your countercode are: Please see our Copy Protection Policy for more details. What is the difference between the demo, lite and professional versions? The versions are identical, except for these differences:
I have saved my layout as a PowerPoint presentation. Can I edit the text in the text boxes or on the plots?Yes. In order to edit the text in a text box once it has been converted to PowerPoint, make sure the presentation is open in PowerPoint. Then right-click on the text box in PowerPoint, and select Grouping->Ungroup. You will be prompted with a question - answer Yes. The text will now be editable. In order to edit the text in a plot, you will need to perform the ungroup twice or three times. Why are there access violations when I save and load files? If your data is located on removable storage like a Zip disk or CD Rom drive, FCS Express may give you errors when saving and loading. In fact, any storage media that is slow, including a slow network, can potentially cause these types of problems, especially in older and slower machines. The simplest solution is to temporarily copy the data files to a directory on your local hard drive. You can then copy the resulting layouts back to the slower media when you are done. Why does the text on the right-most x-axis label cut off on my plot? The happens because the right margin of your plot is cutting off some of the text of the right-most x-axis. If this happens, you have to increase the space between the right margin and the x-axis. To do this, right-click on the plot and select Format. From the Format screen, click on the Background tab. Increase the percentage of the right margin. This will give you more space between the margin and the x-axis text. |
