Several customers have reported conflicts between two of the desktop managers that get automatically installed with certain graphics cards and FCS Express. The key symptom of this conflict is that FCS Express will crash immediately after starting up. If you are experiencing this symptom, you will need to disable the desktop manager for FCS Express. The two desktop managers that are involved are Hydravision from ATI, and nView from NVIDIA. Checking if Hydravision is installedTo determine if Hydravision is installed, look at any open window in your
computer to see if the leftmost icon depicted below is visible in the top
right-hand corner of the window. ![]() If Hydravision is installed on your computer, and you are experiencing the problem that FCS Express crashes immediately after starting up, then please follow the instructions for disabling Hydravision here. Checking if nView is installedYou can check if you are running nView by looking at the notification area of the Windows taskbar. If an NVIDIA graphics card is installed, it will be represented by an icon: ![]() To determine if you nView is installed, right-click on this icon, and look for the menu item "nView Desktop Manager". If menu item is present, then you have nView installed.
If nView is installed on your computer, and you are experiencing the problem that FCS Express crashes immediately after starting up, then please follow the instructions for disabling nView here. |
