Project Descriptions

Guava Technologies decided that they required a new data analysis package that provided their customers with more flexibility than the one that they distributed. They decided to have the work done outside of the company as their computer staff was working at full capacity. De Novo Software was involved in all phases of the project and consulted on how to balance the complex functionality needed for flow cytometry data analysis and an extremely simple user interface desired by Guava. The resulting product was an elegant analysis solution that allowed people to perform sophisticated analysis with very little training.

When the Clinical Immunology department at IDEC (now Biogen-IDEC) needed a flow cytometry data analysis package that implemented many of requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 11, they turned to De Novo Software. Working closely with IDEC's flow cytometry, validation, and computer staff, De Novo Software prepared a cost-effective proposal that implemented many of the key features. De Novo Software delivered a product on time whose features exceeded those required by the proposal. De Novo Software implemented a complete security and logging system to produce a log of all changes to the analysis. This limited the number of possible errors and streamlined the entire analysis process.

De Novo Software provided a data analysis module for the Autonomous Pathogen Detection System (APDS) project. Lawrence Livermore created a gating strategy with FCS Express and then used the data analysis module to derive results using the gating strategy. The data analysis module was called programmatically by Lawrence Livermore's data acquisition system (written in Labview) and returned results to it. The project involved both complex data analysis requirements as well as sophisticated technologies to integrate two separate programming environments.

By using FCS Express' powerful user interface, users of the integrated product will have more functionality available to them, combined with powerful presentation capabilities.
